8 WEEK COURSE

A small workshop of 9 – 12 students will meet one evening per week for 8 weeks. Each class will be 2 1/2 hours. The total cost of the course is $795. In order to reserve one of the limited places in the class, please email Alan a brief note telling him your name, the shows you like to watch, and your writing background if relevant. Adkingsberg@gmail.com. Once you hear back from him, you may then reserve a seat in the class by placing a 50 percent deposit through PayPal or by personal check.

AFTERNOON SEMINAR


“HOW TO BREAK INTO TV WRITING”

A 4 hour intensive course in the essentials of TV writing, including how to build a portfolio to get an agent and a job, how to structure a spec script and pilot, and how to brainstorm story ideas that sell. Each student gets individual feedback on their current TV script or idea.

Special guests: Margrace O'Shea, who started as an assistant and became a writer on Law and Order: Criminal Intent and SVU, and Larry Cohen, who began as a writer's assistant on In Treatment and is now a staff writer for Tom Fontana on Borgias. Marygrace and Larry will talk about the Writer's Rooms on a variety of shows and how they made the jump from assistant to writer.

THE WRITERS ROOM

An 8 week advanced workshop with a maximum of 8 students. Modeled on a professional writers room, students actively participate in discussing each others’ scripts. Open to those who have taken previous workshops with Alan. Cost $895.

 


CONSULTATIONS

All script consultations include scene by scene written notes and a 60 to 90 minute one-on-one meeting, in person or by Skype. Half-hour scripts - $600. One hour scripts - $900. Email for more details.
